Dr Ken Gale

Dr Ken Gale joined as the Managing Director of Hurley Decarbonisation Solutions in 2020. He started his career in 1982 as an apprentice EITB Maintenance Fitter and has since worked in the Building Services for most of his working life. He fosters a collaborative approach to technical engineering leadership which seeks to deliver the best financial, operational, and commercial outcomes for clients.

Ken has over 40 years experience of working in the engineering environment having held directorships in several private sectors organisations in the energy sector. He has extensive knowledge of new business development, energy frameworks and energy performance contracting.

Ken has worked extensively with many of the UK’s leading construction companies in both preconstruction and site construction management. His previous roles include Consultant Building Energy Manager, Regional Building Services Manager, Senior Carbon Trust Energy Consultant, and the Managing Director of an Energy Data Software company.

He has worked client side on numerous multi-year contracts where his key customers included Ofgem, The Centre for Sustainable Energy, Welsh Government, Transport for Greater Manchester, and South Wales Police. Ken is a specialist in securing government grant funding and was the Technical Consultant on the UK’s pilot grant funded Smart Metering roll out in 2010.

In 2013, Ken won the ‘Dale Carnegie Golden Book Award’ for setting up a new Energy Performance Contracting team for an international Facilities Management company.
